Guestbook

We have just returned from a week long holiday in Borth but our first time staying at Marshbank holiday cottage. There were eight of us from the family ranging from ages 10 to 80 and the cottage was perfect for every one of us. Marshbank had everything we needed and more. It was so comfortable and well equipped and Neil and Jo made sure that we were aware of everything and were readily available to answer any questions we might have. There was also a very welcome delicious welcome pack on our arrival. The house is in such a convenient spot, just a short stroll to the shops and the beach and there are such a lot of activities for all ages in and around the area. The coastal walk to Aberystwyth is always worth doing. The beach is very safe and well covered by the lifeguards. A teenager in our party caught a sea bass fishing on the beach one evening.
All in all we had an amazing holiday and could easily have stayed longer and I hope we will be able to come again. Marshbank is a very special place.

Sally,

We have just had our second week-long stay at Marshbank and, once again, we had a wonderful holiday. The house is spacious, beautifully furnished and full of everything we need (us and the pack of dogs!). From the books and games to the garden (perfect for play and relaxing) to the well-appointed kitchen and comfortable and cosy living and bedrooms, Marshbank is an amazing house. Unlike almost every other holiday home we have stayed in (and there have been many!), Marshbank is actually part of the holiday and time spent in it is as valuable as time spent doing the many activities available nearby. When I read the other guestbook entries that describe it as a home from.home, I actually feel a bit jealous. It's our home from home! 😀
During this trip, as well as the beautiful Borth and Ynlas beaches, we had fun in Aberystwyth (Constitution Hill is well worth the funicular railway trip) and Cardigan (The Loft is worth a visit for climbing and crazy golf). We also discovered brilliant escape rooms (Ultimate Xscape Aberystwyth) and paddle boarding with Aber Adventures and we returned to the charming Libanus cinema once again.
All in all, we can't recommend Marshbank and the surrounding areas highly enough. We can't wait to go back.

Russell Jones,

We have just returned from another fabulous holiday at Marshbank.
As always every attention to detail for our time there was accommodated by Jo and Neil.
From before our arrival to after our departure, they were in touch to ensure we were happy and looked after throughout.
We could not have been happier to return to Marshbank. Everything you could want is in the house or gardens. We spent hours with our pups on the lawns this year and walking to the beach, watching the incredible sunsets over the sea.
Marshbank is a luxurious home from home and we could have easily spent our entire week there, with the weather so warm though we did venture out for a few day trips and Newquay was beautiful, Dolphins in the bay and then a walk around the pretty little harbour in Aberystwyth.
We cannot wait to return.
Thank you Jo and Neil for your warmth and hospitality, we truly love visiting and hate leaving xx

Lynne Baugh,

Just returned home after another beautiful family holiday at Marshbank. This wonderful home from home never ceases to amaze us. It has everything you could possibly need and more! It's situated in a spectacular location with views to die for. My granddaughter brought her telescope and the night sky didn't disappoint. The house is magical and has such a warm, homely feeling. yet giving us plenty of space as a group of 9 and dogs. Neil and Jo are amazing hosts with excellent communication throughout. I thoroughly recommend this gem, even my 4 year old grandson cried as we left saying " I don't want to leave the White House". Perfect for family holidays. We are now planning our next visit.

Sue Tycer,

Wow what a place! The house was lovely and spacious despite us being a large family with lots of kids and a dog which meant we weren’t treading on each other’s toes. Garden was secure and the view over the marsh land out of the back of the property was beautiful. We cooked in the house a lot due to the ages of the children and the house had everything we needed. Beach just a stroll away and lots of fun things to do on the doorstep for all ages and weathers. Fantastic hosts, nothing overlooked or too much trouble, we will be returning and recommending to our friends! Thank you Marshbank for helping us make some great memories!

Jess Waddilove ,

As soon as we pull into the drive we relax. The feeling as you walk into Marshbank is so calming.
This was another return trip for us and was as magical as the first. Everything is perfect and nothing is ever too much trouble when contacting Jo and Neil, they are a lovely family, thoughtful and extremely welcoming.
After evening walks on the beach, playtime with the puppy in the sea, a boat trip to see dolphins and a very long walk at Devils Bridge, the best place to come back to is Marshbank, dinner in the gardens and relaxing with a drink.
We will definitely be returning, what a stunning holiday home xx

Lynne Baugh,

We only rented Marshbank Cottage for the weekend and absolutely fell in love with the it! When you enter the house you walk into a timeline of family creativity, because the family have created a space full of happy childhood memories filled with fun and games. The house also has a sense of adventure about it, perhaps because of it’s floating foundations, it was a new experience for us all and with its mix of much loved family pieces of furniture The old and the new blend well together, making it a fantastic family home! We all felt like it was a home from home! The house is big enough for us all to feel like we had our own space. The house is not far from shops, the sea and the local park and yet with the amount of outdoor space and the marsh lands behind the house we felt like we out in the countryside. We will be definitely staying at Marshbank in the future and highly recommend this place for families that want to spend quality time together. Not to forget that the Beech family went to a great lot of effort to make us feel welcomed for the weekend and after our 2hr drive to the house we were welcomed with a note and lots of yummy snacks a lot of which were welsh and all were enjoyed.
To simply put it Marshbank felt like a very welcoming home not a holiday home! And for that reason I took the time to write this review. 😊

Helen Owen,

We finally got the holiday of a dreams after 2 years of waiting (Covid) and it was well worth the wait. As soon as you open the gate to pull onto the extensive grounds you feel a sense of warmth and welcoming which I have never felt anywhere I have been before. Three generations and dogs came for this family holiday and to find the outside area completely child and dog friendly put us at our ease straight away. The house didn't disappoint either. You can tell it has been furnished with a lot of thought and love, it was immaculately clean and a really thoughtful Easter welcoming pack was left for us. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and the space inside was perfect for our group of 9 + dogs. Borth itself is a beautiful, quaint, unspoilt village with sunsets to die for which you get a perfect view of from the house. Two minutes walk from the most beautiful sandy beaches this house is a must and although we have only just returned home we are planning our next visit already. Thank you Neil and Jo for your amazing communication and instant responses to any queries we had. I have travelled all over but this is by far my favourite place of all. I highly recommend.

Sue Tycer,

Just spent a fabulous week at Marshbank, with 3 generations of the family. The cottage is well equipped, and plenty of room for 8 people. A short walk from Marshbank and you are at Borth's beach. Time it right and you are awarded with the most amazing sunset!

Thanks Julie

Julie,

Having booked our second holiday at Marsh bank that unfortunately had to be delayed by a year, we finally arrived on 22 July.
The house was as wonderful as we remembered. You feel relaxed, the moment you pull into the driveway. We arrived to a lovely welcome back note and treats. The house is perfect. Comfortable, cosy, inviting and presented to the highest standard. Nothing has been missed here, everything we could have needed was available to us.
Also nothing is too much trouble with the owners, even quick questions like advice on where to eat.
We cannot wait to return again, for another wonderful break.
This is an immaculate home and we have made wonderful memories here.

Lynne Baugh,

We have just returned home from our weeks holiday in Borth. Marshbank proved to be the right choice of house for us to stop in. The beds were very comfortable. The bed linen and towels which were provided were immaculate. We made great use of the kitchen which has all the equipment you would need.. the lounge and dining area were comfortable with a log burner available if it was cold.. it wasnt required as the weather was warm. There is a Co-op just a very short walk away towards the beach, so we were able to stock up on essentials.. we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning sometime.

Michelle and Peter Allen,

We have just spent a very enjoyable week at Marshbank with 4 friends. The house is extremely roomy and has a real relaxed holiday vibe. There is a very well equipped modern kitchen which is a real bonus in my experience of other holiday lets. The whole house is full of individual character and reflects that it is in family ownership. The owners work very hard to ensure that a good time is had by all.

The garden is large and well maintained with beautiful views and we made great use of the outdoor seating for meals and barbecues, evening drinks or simply morning coffees.

There are many places of interest which are within easy reach and there is always the knowledge that you have a fantastic base to which to return. We made good use of our week and would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

Rose and Andy

Rose,

Marshbank was a home from home, incredibly spacious with all the amenities that you could wish for. It enabled us to have a very relaxing break with all the convenience of great WiFi, enabling us to facilitate some meetings for work while we were there! A lovely relaxing break for the two of us and our little dog Charlie.

Borth and surrounding areas had a plethora of things to do which could include us and our dog, including eating out, going to the cinema, and a drive to a local butterfly house.

We can't recommend enough the great detail that was provided, with instructions to every appliance in the house, points of interest, great places to visit, and also any emergency contacts that we might need.

Just a few minutes' walk from the beach, gorgeous views from the living room and master bedroom. Lovely touch with some arrival treats for both us and Charlie!

We would not hesitate to go again! 5 stars.

Many thanks!
Paul, Simon, and Charlie

The amenities were excellent and the family owners were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and went far beyond than we expected. In these unprecedented times great place to visit enjoy and put your troubles behind you. Phil

Philip Moore,

Recently returned from a lovely relaxing stay at Marshbank.

The owners have thought of everything and communications were excellent. Well equipped cottage with a big fridge/freezer and dishwasher, excellent wi-fi.
We were a party of 4 adults but plenty of space for larger groups of all ages.
Walking distance to beach, convenience stores, cafes and pubs. Good place to be based for driving out to other towns.
We look forward to returning

Ian,

We came to Borth for the start of the Autumn season in mid-September; and whilst we were extremely lucky with the weather which certainly improved our experience-i think we could highly recommend this house and town all year round.

Borths front has a strip of brightly painted houses with plenty of cafes, pubs and an independent picture house, opposite the beach. there are ample routes of cliff walks, sand dunes and amazing countryside to explore from the doorstep.

The house is extremely well kept and astonishingly large. you're entire family will be cosy with the open plan living room with its wood burner and the very spacious bedrooms upstairs. The house is also dog friendly so we were able to bring ours along for the stay and our entire family had an amazing time and are all keen to return when we can.

Would highly recommend. The house and beach front are both impressive. Also excellent communication with the hospitable owners they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great holiday.

S Darlington,

Spent a great week here in August. The cottage is really spacious but cosy at the same time, with a lovely garden. Located just along the road from the beach. We arrived to a lovely welcome gift that catered for all! The hosts were lovely with plenty of communication both prior and during our stay - they really wanted us to enjoy our holiday here! This cottage is well looked after and extremely clean. Thanks guys! X

Geraldine Staniford,

Lovely and clean house with lots of space for 2 families. Plenty of bathrooms, with towels provided. Nice big living room for watching TV, reading or playing games with the family. House has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including washing machine & dish washer. The beds are very comfy, everyone slept well. Good location for Borth or as a base for surrounding towns, which is what we used it for. Drive way big enough for more than one vehicle as we had 2 & trailer. Would certainly recommend and would stay agsin. Friendly, helpful hosts. Thsbk you for letting us stay.

Grant,

A charming and spacious Cottage just a couple of minutes walk from Borth Beach, shops and cafes, and easy driving distance to Aberystwyth and other beaches.
Secured for kids both inside and outside of the house.

The owners were friendly and obliging and organised everything for our stay including rearranging due to covid-19. Upon arrival the house was immaculately clean and we had everything we needed during our stay.

The house is decorated very nicely and is modern and up to date, without the house loosing its charm. The kitchen is well equipped, the lounge and additional seating area very comfortable and with one en suite, a family bathroom and an additional WC downstairs there were plenty of facilities for our party of 9.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marshbank and would highly recommend it for a holiday.

Pet-friendly spacious house with large garden

The location is perfect and just a 5 minute stroll to the beach. The house and garden are not overlooked and have lovely views across the marshes towards the beach. If you have dogs you can relax and be confident they will be safe as the large garden which surrounds the house is fully enclosed with sheep grade fencing. The house is suitable for a large family or two families as was the case with our booking. We managed to almost divide the property in half with private separate quarters for the adults at each end and the kids housed in the middle bedrooms. This property was an unbelievable find for us and the owners inform us it has only recently come onto the rental market. It is genuinely a real gem and we wouldn't hesitate to give it a five star rating and will most certainly be booking it again in the near future

MikeB,

Had a wonderful week at Marshbank with my son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. Really lovely house with all the home comforts. Owners really helpful with the booking and check-in and keen to ensure our holiday went well. Plenty of room for the children to play and a lovely garden for them to run around in. Very convenient for beach, shops and cafes, although due to Covid not everything was open. Spent two days on the sand dunes at Ynaslys - huge expanse of sand quite unspoilt with nesting birds. Took the train to Aberystwyth and went up Constitutional Hill on the funicular - children loved it! Would certainly recommend the house for families and couples. Hope to return some time soon.

Brenda Evelyn Eade,

We've just had a long weekend at Marshbank and absolutely loved it. There is everything you need for a relaxing and cosy stay. The log burner is a dream and easy to use.

Plenty of room on the driver to park our 3 cars and a really easy check in. We took the bus from Borth (bus stop at the top of the road by the shop) to Aberystwyth took about 15-20 minutes, this was really simple and we got off the bus at the stop just before the house, which was really convenient.

Lots of shops and coffee places, we recommend '#1 Coffee' and had lunch at Little Devil's Cafe which has veggie and vegan options and friendly staff - you can also take your dog in. We'd booked facials and massages at Beauty Spot salon for a relaxing afternoon, this place is a hidden gem! They use
'Neal's Yard' products, which smell amazing and we received a fabulous service.

We all commented on the quality of beds and bed linen at Marshbank for a great sleep. The living areas are very clean, large and airy and the kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and crockery. A really well thought out holiday cottage.

Thank you again, we will definitely recommend and will book again.
